” Planning has begun”
So you think you’d make a good masterpiece? Here’s your chance.
The Pageant of the Masters, Laguna Beach’s venerable “living pictures” salute to classic art, will have opencasting calls Saturday night, Sunday afternoon and Thursday night for its 2014 edition, “The Art Detective.”
The pageant annually hosts hundreds of applicants – men, women and children of all sizes and ages – who hope to pose perfectly still in makeup and costume for 90 seconds while depicting well-known artworks. Prospective volunteer cast members will fill out paperwork with their contact information and clothing sizes. A storyboard will show titles and images of the pieces to be presented in the summer production.
After filling out the papers, applicants will head to the backstage area, where they will be measured and photographed.
No theater experience is necessary.
Pageant volunteers also are sought for positions in wardrobe, makeup and more.
This year’s performances will be at 8:30 p.m. daily from July 9 through Aug. 30 at the Festival of Arts grounds. Show tickets are available for $15 to $220 at 800-487-3378 orwww.foapom.com/pageant-of-the-masters.
