The streets around the Huntington Pier were filled with holiday cheer Sunday by the Light a Light of Love event, highlighted by a parade featuring dozens of local groups.
Santa, his elves, and “reindogs” rocked down Main Street before gathering at the pier. More than 80 giant snowflakes were lit during a ceremony that serve as the largest fundraiser for the Huntington Beach youth shelter. Each snowflake is sponsored by people and companies, some paying up to $600.
Some Marina High School band members decorated their instruments with Christmas lights in a sunset performance before the ceremony.
Ryan Billing’s baritone horn was glowing with color. “I really like the spirit of (the event), but as a senior this is the second-to-last time I get to wear my band uniform,” he lamented.
