Chapman student named Miss USA finalist

ORANGE Mabelynn Capeluj, a broadcast journalism student at Chapman University, placed 15th in last weekend’s Miss USA 2013 Pageant in Las Vegas.

Capeluj, 21, was named Miss California earlier this year.

“Making it to the pageant has been my dream for quite a few years,” she said during a pageant interview. “I’m really proud to be representing my state.”

Capeluj was born and raised in San Diego. After she receives her degree from Chapman, Capeluj hopes to work for E! News as an entertainment reporter, states her Miss USA biography. She also models and has been featured in several national advertising campaigns.

During Sunday’s telecast, the winner of the Miss USA title was Miss Connecticut, 25-year-old Erin Brady.
