The term “trophy house” typically describes a wealthy owner’s pricey digs. But in the case of the home at 2 Windemere Court in Pelican Ridge, a couple of the rooms themselves have snagged actual awards.
The master bedroom closet won a Top Shelf distinction from Closet magazine in 2010 – partly for configuring the space to accommodate 250 pairs of shoes. The home theater also captured a couple of awards from a contractors’ group, including one for its technical design.
In addition to the accolades, the four-bedroom Newport Coast home boasts a number of extra touches. The mahogany-paneled office has a leather floor. The master bathroom includes 19 shower heads. TV screens hide behind motorized artwork. Many functions, including mechanized louvers covering the loggia, are controlled via iPads.
A two-story, coffered ceiling tops the sunken formal living room. The gourmet kitchen includes a Wolf stove with a griddle and grill, a wine refrigerator, island with a vegetable sink and two Miele dishwashers. A heated marble and onyx floor warms the master bathroom, which has oversized basins, full slab white onyx counters and dual steam units in the shower.
The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association awarded the movie room its technical design award in the “$451,000 to $500,000” home theater category.
Set behind iron gates, the home’s grounds include more than 4,000 square feet of travertine, a covered patio, outdoor heaters, a fireplace, an outdoor kitchen with a kegerator, and a saltwater swimming pool and spa.
The house was foreclosed in 2010, going back to the bank after no one purchased it at the foreclosure auction for $3 million, public records show.
The current owner wants to move out of state to be closer to family.
