The harvest is coming early this year at The Resort at Pelican Hill.

The Newport Coast resort’s annual three-day fall festival, which was in November last year, kicks off Friday.

The event, first launched in 2011, celebrates the resort’s olive trees. In 2011, the celebration was a one-day affair with olive pressing, live music, entertainers and seasonally inspired foods. The festivities have grown, expanding to three days of food tasting, dinners and entertainment open to the public.

The biggest celebration is Saturday’s Italian-style street fair featuring regional Italian cuisine. The event from noon to 5 p.m. is inspired by traditional harvest celebrations held each year in villages across Italy. The event also includes live music, wine tasting and an olive oil-pressing demonstration. Tickets for the Saturday event are $115 per adult and $45 for children under 12.

Various other dining events occur throughout the weekend. This year, the price increased because the resort has expanded the lineup of entertainment and culinary offerings, resort spokeswoman Kimberly Sanders said.
