Tree-lighting ceremonies are one of the usual indicators that the holiday season has arrived. South Coast Plaza marked the tradition Nov. 21 with its 32nd annual Tree Lighting Celebration. The Orange County School of the Arts helped kick off the event with singing and dancing.

 

 The Town Center embodied all of the aspects of holiday cheer, including decorations and characters such as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Unplugged, the School of the Arts’ a capella group, performed an array of holiday carols, as did Montage! the school’s performing group. Student vocalists included Chase DelRayMaddie CoyleJake ChustzCarly OpacicChristian Rubi and Jackie Hishmeh.

 

Early arrivers received a free Santa hat and gift bags filled with treats. Hundreds of guests wrapped themselves in warm clothing and gathered on the Town Center lawn to enjoy the performances and see the 96-foot-tall decorated tree illuminated with hundreds of lights.
