A classy restaurant deserves a stylish send-off. That’s the thinking behind The Ritz Restaurant’s farewell bash slated for Feb. 15.

The next day, the Newport Beach institution plans to close after a 37-year run.

As previously chronicled by the Register, The Ritz was unable to renew its lease with the Irvine Co. It was originally slated to close last June, but it was granted a lease extension through mid-February. Managing partner Ray Jacobi had hoped to secure a new location for the restaurant by now, but so far a relocation spot has not been announced.

In the meantime, he’s planning a lavish feast for the final day.

For $150 at lunch, diners get a three-course meal that includes a choice of well cocktails and house-selected wines. Dinner is $250 for a four-course meal including well cocktails and wine. Reservations are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and 5:30-11 p.m. for dinner.

Proceeds from the evening will be distributed among the staff.
